Garden Totems, 2010

A.D. Healey School

This project was designed to bring some color to the school’s large front foyer. In 2010, four classes of fifth and sixth graders worked independently and in groups, creating many small pieces, which when assembled together became sculptures larger than the students themselves. The kids were so excited and empowered to have had a part in the making of the totem garden. Each piece represents something one might find in a garden. Everything from mushrooms, snails and butterflies, to footballs, snack food and smiling faces adorn the totems.
